There is a stigma around the financial claims that banks will only investigate as far back as 10 years. At Brazier Consulting Services, there is no limit on how far back you can claim. PPI has been located on accounts from 1987.
The method used to calculate compensation is fairly complex, however, the general rule is that you will receive any premiums you have paid plus statutory interest at 8%. Additionally, if you have paid any associated fees or additional interest on your agreements due to PPI, you may be awarded even more compensation.
At Brazier Consulting Services Ltd we’re always up front with potential clients. Yes, you can claim yourself. However, we also understand that people want a company that will do everything for them from start to finish. That’s why we’ve set up a team of claims specialists who take care of the entire process from filling out all of the paperwork to liaising with the bank to ensure the compensation you are offered is fair and accurate.
In short, yes you can. The lender may use any compensation to clear arrears before they make payment to you, however, it’s still worth making a claim. If you are in financial difficulty with the bank and you do not receive the money for the claim, we won’t pursue you for a fee. If you receive a partial payment due to some money being used to pay off any bad debt you owe, we will only charge our fee on the money you actually receive.
PPI - Once we receive your paperwork back, the entire process typically takes around 8 – 12 weeks to receive a decision from the bank. However, if we need to raise an appeal to the Financial Ombudsman Service, it can add many months onto the process. Even if you don’t know any account numbers, we can usually locate them and submit the complaints under the same timescales.
PBA – Once we receive your paperwork back, the process is typically 4 – 9 weeks. We can get results in as little as 7 days from receipt of your paperwork depending on the lender we are complaining to.
Even if you’ve actually used the PPI or benefitted from the PBA, you may still be able to claim. Just because you’ve utilised a policy or benefit, it doesn’t mean it’s not been mis-sold. Please bear in mind though, any redress may be reduced by the value of a claim that has already been paid out.
Of course. We understand that paperwork can be lost/destroyed once a financial agreement has been settled. We can send your basic information to the bank electronically to locate any accounts you’ve held. Although financial companies legally only have to keep records of customer’s transactions and dealings for 6 years, a lot of lenders keep them for longer and we have the processes in place to locate them.
Yes, you can still submit a complaint if you have closed your account. Even if it’s been closed for over 6 years, Brazier Consulting Services Ltd can help you locate the accounts and submit a complaint.
Submitting any complaint to the bank should not affect your relationship in any way. The lenders are obliged to follow the “Treating Customers Fairly” (TCF) initiative to ensure all customers receive fair treatment regardless of any complaints. The FCA take the TCF extremely seriously and where they find failings by lenders, they will use their full range of regulatory powers to take action.
"We will charge you a fee of 20% + VAT of the total amount paid to you in full and final settlement of the claim made against the defendant once the offer has been agreed and accepted. For example, for an offer of £2,000.00, we would charge a fee of £480.00 to you (£400 + £80 VAT). Based on a £2,000.00 successful claim you would pay a Fee of £480.00."
